“The Revisioners” is told from the perspective of two women in semi-alternating chapters. The opening thread follows Ava, a 34-year-old biracial single mother trying to make ends meet in post-Katrina, heavily gentrified New Orleans in 2017.

Yet the novel became increasingly scattered and I became increasingly confused. The Revisioners shows us how powerfully we are connected to ancestors that we have never met and it does so by brilliantly telling the story of two women, connected by blood, but living out their stories more than a century apart.
